Dear Cromwell Public Schools Families, We hope you are well and enjoying your summer. Just a reminder that if you have not already done so, please respond to the survey links below regarding your students’ return to school. We need to collect this information from families so that we may begin to develop our academic programing and make the necessary adjustments to the classrooms and learning environments. Each school has a designated link. Be sure to respond to the link for which each child will be attending in the fall. Please respond on behalf of each child you have in Cromwell Public Schools. If you have already responded, you should not respond again. The survey will close on July 8th. After that point, school leaders will be reaching out to those families that have not responded. Thank you for your support in helping us to plan for the safest possible return to school for our students. Cromwell High School Cromwell Middle School Woodside Intermediate School Edna C. Stevens Elementary School We are looking forward to seeing our students in the fall! Enjoy your summer.

Dear Graduates and Families, Please come and help us celebrate our seniors! The Senior Drive portion of the graduation ceremony is to be held on June 15th (rain date is June 16th). The Senior Drive is a town-wide Senior Parade. Please read information below carefully. A procession will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. from Watrous Park on graduation day. Seniors please arrive at Watrous Park no later than 12:45 p.m. In collaboration with the Cromwell Police and Health Departments – the following perimeters must be followed: 1. Two seniors are able to drive in one car at the same time as long as they are legally allowed to carry a passenger. Masks must be worn. 2. Two seniors are able to drive in one car at the same time with a parent. Masks must be worn. High school teachers will help organize this event under the direction of the Cromwell Police Department. Based on the Police Department’s calculations, the Senior Parade will be back at Watrous Park around 3:00 p.m. to pick up any graduates that were unable to participate in the town-wide parade and start the original path parade by the schools, ending at Cromwell High School. After the parade is concluded, you will wait for your assigned time to come to CHS to receive your diploma. Please see the attached Senior Parade route by street to be shared with family and friends.

Dear CPS Community, This morning, Governor Lamont, made an executive decision to close school for the remainder of the school year. CPS students will continue to participate in the Phase 3 Virtual Learning Plan for the remainder of the school year. The last day of Virtual Learning will be on June 15, 2020. More information regarding graduation and promotion ceremonies along with other end of year activities will be forthcoming from school principals. Thank you for all of your support during this very challenging time. We miss our students very much but understand that the governor’s decision to close school the remainder of the year was based on the safety of our students and staff. It is my sincere hope that your families are healthy and safe. Dr. Enza Macri Superintendent Cromwell Public Schools

Dear CPS Community, I hope you are all staying healthy and safe. As we approach the end of week one of Cromwell’s Phase II Virtual Learning Plan, it is important that we keep the mental health and well-being of our students, educators and families at the forefront of all of our decisions. In a couple of weeks, we will administer a survey to all stakeholders to gather information regarding how we can continue to support our students and families as we make plans to move forward. Below are updates that are available at this time: 1. Report cards for quarter 3 at CMS and CHS will go out on April 22nd. Grades closed on March 13th but students have until April 9th to turn in any outstanding assignments. 2. April Break will take place from 4/10 to 4/17. Although students and teachers will be on vacation, teachers will provide optional assignments for those students that want to remain engaged in their academics. Teachers will be available for daily virtual instruction on Monday, April 20th. We are following the original school calendar. 3. Reminder that any feedback about the Virtual Learning Plan and/or district operations can be sent to covid-19@cromwell.k12.ct.us; we will send out weekly parent/community updates each Wednesday that school is in session. 4. Grab and Go meals will be available at ECS next week. Meals will continue to be disseminated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 10:00-12:00 pm. 5. Schools are in the process of forming committees to brainstorm graduation/promotion alternatives for the end of the year. We will send out more details as we have them. Please enjoy the Holiday weekend and take good care. Sincerely, Enza

Dear CPS Community, We are approaching the end of the original two weeks closure period and as the seriousness of the situation continues, we find ourselves away from the traditional classroom for longer. We will be phasing out our Interim Learning Opportunities and starting on Monday, April 6, 2020 we will be implementing a plan with more structure and accountability. In these uncertain times, it has been necessary for us to balance the most urgent needs of the families and student academics. As this will be the new normal for the near future, we are going to begin to normalize virtual learning as well. We appreciate your patience as our teachers are expected to instruct in a manner that they have never done before and are learning virtually as well. A letter will go out to families soon with further information as to how Cromwell Public Schools will be moving forward. In the meantime, we are also still waiting for guidance from the Commissioner of Education regarding many of these matters. Please feel free to contact the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Keri MacLean, at kmaclean@cromwell.k12.ct.us so that she can provide assistance if you should need it. Please be well. Thank you, Enza Enza Macri, Ed.D. Superintendent Cromwell Public Schools
