Dear Cromwell Public School Community,

We hope you are all well.

As we enter the winter months we are expecting an increase in the number of respiratory viruses including Influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Covid-19. Please remember to keep your child home when they have symptoms of a respiratory infection, and until they are fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication. We strongly recommend testing for Covid-19 prior to coming to school if you notice any symptoms. If your child tests positive for Covid-19 please click here for guidance which can help you navigate what to do if your child is positive, symptomatic or a close contact. Please feel free to reach out to Gillian Hanson, District Nurse Coordinator or any of the school nurses for clarification. This information is also posted on the district website.

The Department of Public Health (DPH) and Connecticut Department of Education (CSDE) provided CT school districts with Covid-19 test kits earlier this year for distribution to students and staff. With the winter season approaching and gatherings with friends and family increasing, we are planning to send home a test kit with every student and staff member so they are able to test prior to coming to school if they become symptomatic. The FDA extended the expiration date on the ihealth test kits and most will expire during the month of January 2023. Please click here to view the FDA Covid Test Kit Expiration Date Extension Information.

If anyone would like additional test kits please contact one of the school nurses.
