Dear Parents/Guardians, Students and Community Members: As with all other districts in Connecticut, Cromwell Public Schools has had to make difficult decisions in order to put the health and well-being of our students and staff first. We wanted to provide the community with additional information about the school closure. Although the Governor has waved the 180 day requirement, that waiver will only come into play after June 30, 2020. In other words, we will make up any days missed until the June 30th date. Should we need to extend the closure, we will not be in attendance past June 30th. In the email sent by Dr. Macri yesterday, she mentioned April Break will remain in place. However, the Board of Education has decided to re-evaluate and will vote on that decision at the next meeting which is currently scheduled for March 24, 2020. Information will be forthcoming about the last day of school and high-school graduation. Although we will be making up days missed until June 30th, as educators, we feel it is important for students to have access to educational materials to avoid any interruptions in learning and to prevent learning slides. The assignments posted on the district distance learning website are optional and will not be counted in teacher grade books, etc. However, we highly encourage students to access these materials so they may continue to build skills during these unforeseen circumstances.
