Welcome Letter

August 1, 2019

 Dear Cromwell School Community,

It is with such excitement that I welcome you back for the start of the 2019-2020 school year as your new Superintendent of Schools.  I feel honored and privileged to be chosen to lead this wonderful school district.  The interview and selection process allowed me to meet many enthusiastic people from the community, as well as dedicated teachers and students who share the promise and anticipation of a great future for Cromwell Public Schools.  The process reinforced my belief that I am joining a terrific community filled with individuals who want to build on past achievements and work together to create an exceptional learning environment for our youth that will prepare them to excel personally and professionally in the future.

About 35 years ago, I knew I wanted to be a teacher; I wanted to inspire as many children to live up to their personal potential, whether that meant learning how to master simple addition facts, write an expository essay, or build a robot.  After all, our children do not fit "a one-size-fits-all” mold and I believed that it was my responsibility to find each child's strengths and areas of improvement and then to match instructional strategies to best meet their needs.  I hold firmly to those beliefs today and promise to challenge our students and staff as they explore new areas of learning and discover their passion.  I found it serendipitous that “Placing Students First” is the Mission Statement for Cromwell Public Schools because this idea is one of my core beliefs.  By placing our students at the forefront of every decision we make, we will stay true to our mission and our children will thrive.

I am in the process of meeting with district members and the greater community to get to know what people believe is working well in Cromwell Public Schools and how we can make improvements to best meet the needs of all of our children.  I truly look forward to getting to know our students, staff, families, and community members.  I welcome your input and encourage your involvement in our schools.  Together, we can solve problems, provide a safe learning environment, and encourage each other to reach new heights.

Enjoy the remaining weeks of summer.

 Sincerely,

 Enza Macri, Ed. D.
